South Park Avenue in Linden reopened to traffic today between E. Linden Avenue and Route 1 after being closed for several hours as crews finished up water main break repairs that happened on Tuesday.

Crews worked on the repairs for over 24 hours in the grueling heat, battling the water that came out gushing out on a 12-inch cast iron main.

News 12 New Jersey spoke with a business that is still flooded with water caused by the water break.

John Dashuta, who works for Tri-City Insulation Distributors, told News 12 the entire office was completely flooded this morning.

Kevin Bryant, another employee at the construction material wholesaler, says “It’s a mess, it really is. I got some blowers and shop vac. It keeps coming up from the bottom."

“We’re having a hard time getting the drivers in here because they have to go through the alley and now, they have to go through a detour and find their way in. But outside, they're doing a good job getting it done really quick," he continued.

Authorities say residents in the affected area may experience discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure, or no water. If your water is discolored, police say run the cold water taps only at the lowest level of the house for about three to five minutes until the water runs clear.
