Jersey Shore towns are gearing up for what could be massive crowds this week and weekend between the extended holiday and many spectacular fireworks shows.

“We’re expecting good weather, it’s going to be crowded. All the police departments put on extra officers during the holiday weekend,” said Allenhurst chief and Monmouth County DUI Task Force director Michael Schneider.

Officials say it's been a summer of record crowds and few problems - outside of isolated, yet well-documented incidents Memorial Day weekend.

“I think Long Branch helped out a lot of shore communities with that. We’ve had no threats of pop-up parties. We constantly monitor the internet, social media with the state police and looks good,” said Asbury Park Deputy Chief Guy Thompson.

Record badge sales from Sea Bright to Belmar to Lavallette and a favorable weather forecast almost guarantees huge numbers starting on Wednesday.

“Come in, be respectful of one another and we should all have a good fun event,” added Thompson.

Following the chaos in Seaside Heights this Memorial Day Weekend, Mayor Tony Vaz tells News 12 that police will monitor the area from the air and ground. A 10 p.m. curfew will be implemented if needed.

In Monmouth County, be on the lookout for roving DUI patrols and checkpoints, as the Goal: Zero program continues into the summer months.

“Our goal is to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities that are happening especially in Monmouth County,” said Schneider.

“I would say roughly you’ll get crowds for the major events we have, you’ll see 30,000 to 50,000 people here,” said Thompson.

Asbury Park’s fireworks are traditionally one of the most well-attended shows at the Jersey Shore. They'll be set off at 9 p.m. sharp Wednesday night. The city recommends arriving early or taking New Jersey Transit to watch the show.
